Tenleytown One Life Fitness

The Equinox thread has me wondering about the One Life Fitness in the same block. I know it's not Equinox, but tell me the good and the bad there.

It’s not Equinox, but I’ve been happy with it. Great indoor saltwater pool. It’s been crowded this month but I haven’t had a problem.

I love the classes at OneLife. Some fill up really quickly (BodyPump, Barre, Mashup), so I set an alarm on my phone to remind me when registration opens (24 hours prior). They have a nice mix of every kind of class.

I like OneLife Tenley for the most part.

The good: The recovery room is great with the red light therapy and percussion guns.

There are tons of areas to work out on turf. I love that they have so many weighted sleds. The sandbags are fun.

Love love the yoga, pilates, barre room a dnd classes.

Zumba on Friday nights is like a party.

Pool: you can reserve half a lane on the app which is nice.

The not always great:

Normatec boots and the massage chairs are often busy and not all will be working. I think their heavy use just makes them more prone to break downs.

Main Weight room: not to be ageist, but it is sometimes hard to use the equipment because of the packs of teen boys who spend forever on the phones between set breaks. (they have Gonzaga, St. John’s, St. Alban’s and Jackson Reed shirts on so I know they are high school age)

Cleanliness: a lot of people do not wipe down the equipment after using machines or equipment. I have seen women in the locker room on numerous occasions just drop paper towels on the floor or leave them on the counter versus walking over to the trash can to throw them out. Maybe it’s because they have housekeepers at home but it’s pretty appalling.
