How long for passport renewal & new passport application

We need to get us passport renewed. I and DH are citizens (naturalized) with clean reports. Kids are born here. One need to apply for new one, and the other needs to be renewed. How long does it take un dmv for processing time?

Went to passport renewal meeting on 26 December. The children’s came back last week and my husbands came back Saturday. We were all born in the us.

Mine took 2 weeks to renew online. I filed in early January and have the new passport back already.

Adult passports have usually been processed within the month for us. Kids anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 8 weeks, all regular service, all clean applications. Really depends on the time of year. I’d do the passport filler online, make sure you do no handwritten changes once you print, and use a trusted app or third party service to take your pictures.

I am a naturalized citizen. I renewed mine online while the govt shutdown was going on. I got my renewal acceptance email in 2 days, and my passport was in the mail box 3 days later ( I did pay for expedited shipping).

All in all, a very good experience, and it took just a week to get one. If your passport is eligible to renew online that's what I would do. So quick....

Renewed/reapplied for my child’s passport at our local post office with an appointment. Brought photos taken at CVS. Electronically filled out application, had all supporting documents and soon to expire passport. Had the new passport in hand less than 2 weeks after our post office appointment. It was a breeze. Didn’t do expedited service, normal processing for child’s passport.

Children's passports require an in person appointment. Make them at your local post office. We always expedite ours, takes a couple weeks. I also recommend getting a passport card for everyone while you're at it (to carry around as an extra ID proving your citizenship). Without expediting, not sure maybe 4-6 weeks?

It took three weeks for my 20 year old to get his first passport. He had to go to an appointment in person and the passport arrived in the mail exactly three weeks later.

You can pay extra for an expedited passport. I lost mine hours before our flight. I switched the plane times and went right in to get a replacement. They were good about it and it only took two hours.

This is a completely different situation where you were lucky to live close to a department of state passport office.

Just applied for renewal online. Told to expect by March 7. Normal process (did not pay to expedite).

Tangent to this topic. My passport expires in October. I have a trip to the UK and Netherlands in March. Wad planning on renewing after the trip. Or should I try to do it now?

You are fine, both places only require 3 months validity after your return ticket.
