Pre-emergent for lawn

The usual time to put down pre-emergent weed preventer is the first 2 weeks of February. Preen is a good option. Scotts is mostly filler.

January is too soon. By March it is too late for some weeds.

I thought it was when the forsythia bloom, so early March.

Saw some forsythia blooming in NW DC yesterday! I prefer Green View brand after using Scott’s for many years.

Preen says not for use on lawns?

Is there a recommended pre-emergent for lawns and grass (ie, no mulchy areas)

There is a kind of Preen that is designed for lawns. Different package than Preen for bedding areas.

Same, but by next week it will all melt - I want to be prepared.

I want to know what to use for lawn/grass - not mulched areas.
