I'm in VA and looking for kosher marshmallows (or marshmallows without pork-based gelatin). Are they easy to find this time of year? Can you point me to a store the regularly carries them?
I've heard that the Williams-Sonoma marshmallows are kosher, but I'm not looking to spend that kind of money. I just want to make rice krispy treats. Thanks! |
| Whole Foods |
| Go to a health-food store and ask for vegan or vegetarian marshmellows. This is not going to be cheap. |
| There's a kosher mart in Wheaton, if you're near that area. Maybe if other places don't carry them... |

Ah. Trying to find kosher food in VA! That takes me back a decade. Still no kosher grocery stores?
I've gotten kosher marshmallows at Whole Foods, but that was around Pesach. I don't know if they're normally stocked. Vegetarian stores could be another productive option. There's always Koshermart in Rockthesda near White Flint. In DC, Brookville Market in Cleveland Park is good for many kosher items. If that happens to be more convenient for you, you could give them a call to see if they carry marshmallows. |
Thanks to the people that suggested Whole Foods. I just got back from there and they had plenty (mini and regular!).

| For rice krispie treats, you can also use marshmallow fluff and that it almost all kosher. You can easily find it at Giant or Safeway. |
| OP here - Thanks to the PP for the fluff suggestion, but I couldn't use that because it has egg yolks and a child in the class is allergic to eggs. |
I meant that fluff has egg whites.
