New APS Course selection

I couldnt watch the meeting about this Tuesday so I don't understand how to create a parent account on the new course selection site. Where do I get the code for my kid?

Also, they have to pick four years of courses in 8th grade? Seems to be new this year?

At the Wakefield parent info night they essentially said that only the course requests for the 26-27 school year matters. The rest is just for your planning purposes.

Not exactly, you complete a course "PLAN" for all four years, you aren't enrolling in those now. You choose the classes for next year only.

Completing the plan is an exercise for kids to map out their HS experience since there are odd VA requirements like sequentional electives and also to see the math paths e.g. if they want to get to a certain level calculus, they must take these 3 courses first, etc. Also, it allows students to see what they will need to do for an advanced diploma vs regular.

It helps kids not be in a bind later.

I don't think this type of planning is new this year. It's good to look to the future and you should always keep grad requirements in mind.
