Looking for bold hair color ideas (no vivids though). My stylist prefers to give baby lights, but that’s not my vibe.
I’m looking for pattern/style ideas, not specific colors. Is ombré balayage an option? I need something that won’t give me harsh grow out lines (and unfortunately demi glaze root melt gives me harsh lines even though it isn’t supposed to), and I don’t want to look super dated. **This is medium length hair, not long. |

If you don't want "harsh grow out lines" you don't have much choice beyond highlights. And even with those you can have ugly growth if your highlights are too much of a contrast to your natural color.
Like PP said, you need to talk to your stylist. |
| I'm not sure "bold hair color" and "low maintenance" go together. I used to get highlights and lowlights that weren't very far from my natural color, and even then after a couple of months you could see my natural roots. If you could find an OTC root cover, that may cut down on maintenance. I know my mom gets her hair colored 2-3 times a year and covers her gray roots at home in between. |

I don't understand what "bold hair color" means if you don't want color recommendations. And also if you don't want to look dated -- the current trends are towards more subtle, blended highlights. Yes, ombre or dramatic balayage will look dated. Which , if you love them, who cares. But you want both.
I'd just poke around on Pinterest. It's not really possible for us to recommend something based on what you've requested here. |
| Yes ombré balayage is an option but I wouldn’t call it bold. |
