| Kid loves everything about UVM (medium size, nice vibe, in a smallish/cute city, easy access to outdoor activities. The only thing it’s missing for him is a bball or football team to root for. I fear he has been overly influenced my his parents’ love and enthusiasm for our Alma mater sports teams (Wisconsin for me, Michigan for DH). What else is out there that we might be missing? |

Doesn’t uvm have basketball? I remember them upsetting someone in the first round of the tournament a few years ago. They also have d1 hockey, which is very fun.
My kid loves uvm too and is going to end up there, but I don’t think you’ll find big time d1 football/basketball with school traits similar to uvm. Colorado will be bigger. Washington state bigger too. |
| Soccer team won NCAA D1 title. College Football in the northeast is never going to be big, need to go south. |
| Can he switch and route for hockey? |
|
U Del? It's bigger but small for a public. I'm not sure how much more sports school spirit there is.
Syracuse? Access to a small city but it wouldn't be described as cute. Not sure it's his vibe either. |
| Vermont has D1 basketball |
| Ha ha. What’s the best way to mock Vermont basketball? |
| UVM has a D1 basketball team that has regularly been in the NCAA tournament. They are consistently among the best teams in the not great American East conference that has an auto-bid to the tourney. |
| They have a hockey team to root for. Don't underestimate the enthusiasm for good college hockey! |
| San Diego State |
| Old Dominion |
| JMU - not D1 but an excellent football team (they made it to CFB playoffs this year) and lots of school spirit. |
Um, JMU is D1. |
Didn't OP do this is the thread starting post ? |

UMass, Uconn, Appalachian State, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, Wake
(these are all D1 football) |
