Has anyone else experienced this?

Our coach took a team that had lost several players to a league championship and helped them qualify for Regionals. He wanted to stay with the team through states, Jefferson Cup, and Regionals, and sent a very thoughtful message asking families not to contact the club while respecting their decision.

The club made it sound like he gave an ultimatum, which is not true. My daughter and a few teammates are really upset. I would love to hear how other teams handled something like this right before a big tournament.

Getting the Coaching assignment slate correct is very difficult. There is a lot of personnel 'Human Resources' type stuff that goes into the determinations. Keeping the right coaches assigned to the right teams is a big headache for clubs every year. It happens every year.

Yes, our team plays in the league final on January 24.

I'm so confused. Why would they remove him from coaching the team mid-year? Coaching assignments are for the entire year (fall-winter-spring).

Why would the coach leave mid-season? Was he fired? For breaking rules or bad behavior?

Not OP BUT it sounds like what OP meant is that the coach, who took a team, that had previously lost players, all the way through to states, got fired. And the club isn’t being forthcoming with why coach was fired. Sound about right OP?

While most coaches have contracts that align with the season, there's a small number of coaches that have contracts that are based on the calendar year. This is why you see some coaches leave mid-season without explanation.
