| What happens to a USAJOBS vacancy announcement if there is another government shutdown? I am a current federal employee and have an upcoming interview with DoD. If a shutdown occurs, would the job announcement be canceled, even if a tentative or final offer has already been made for someone before the shutdown? |
Can they bring someone on board during a furlough, or only after the furlough ends? |
| The people in charge of hr, payroll, background checks, training, setting up technology, etc. will probably be furloughed outside of what's needed to manage current staff, so I would not expect onboarding to occur during a shutdown. Given this administration, if you are coming on as an ice agent, that might be the exception. |
| Nothing can be processed during the shutdown. Whether they can resume the process after the shutdown probably depends on how long the shutdown is, what stage of processing the job offer was in, how long certs are good for, etc. |
| I just completed a temp assignment to an HR office at my agency, and we conducted interviews during the entire shutdown. My agency has an extensive background check process, so it's not like selected candidates would be starting anytime soon, though. We issued conditional offer letters to those selected. |
How quickly can the paperwork process be completed when transferring from one federal agency to another? Is it possible for the transfer to be finalized within one pay period (two weeks), or is two pay periods a more typical timeline? |
