"River" - Prime

I saw this show recommended here a few times, so I watched it and LOVED it. It's older, I think 2015. Stellan Skarsgard stars and is wonderful, as usual. Very poignant story line. Just wanted to say thanks to those who recommended it.

It’s incredible, flawless really. A twisty mystery that explores character, culture, and mental health within its perfect storytelling.

I loved the pairing of SS and Nicola Walker. My heart hurt so much for River.

Fantastic show. Stellan Skarsgard was amazing, and Nicola Walker is great in everything she does.

I absolutely loved the karaoke and dance scenes. So unexpected to see Stellan Skarsgard dancing and singing, especially given his very sad and repressed role in this show!

I loved it too but absolutely had to turn a blind eye or suspend belief to them as a “couple”

Really? I liked the pairing. Of course, they were never actually a couple, but she was very clearly the only person who he could be himself with. It was heartbreaking that they never actually got to experience their love for each other in reality.

There's a 20 years age gap. Just not appealing to me. But I loved the two separately so I overlooked that.

There were a few gaps like that. The psychiatrist dating the police boss too...

The only flaw I did find was in the video, Bridie telling a 13 y o Stevie to put him down. She said "Stevie, put him down". I'm pretty sure she would have called her own daughter, Jackie Stevenson "Jackie" back then. DI Stevenson probably only got the Stevie nickname in the precinct. Why would a mother, Bridie Stevenson, with alllllll her sons, Jimmy, Frankie, etc. call her daughter by the family last name? That was weird.
