True story: quite a few people in the building have died of rare cancers and there are rumors it’s somehow related to the hvac system or the water but the union won’t look into it.
I always assumed it was from the crappy job they did getting rid of the mold after the ‘06 flood. Still can smell it in the basement and I have a sneezing attack every day when I enter the building.
OP, there are no break rooms, so no fridges unless your office suite buys their own (and gets it approved). Cafeteria has microwaves. I think 3 days a week now Fooda comes in and sells food. You can eat in the cafeteria if you want to get away from your desk. I mostly eat at my desk. Coffee, again depends on if your office suite buys its own coffee maker. They did put in water bottle fillers on a bunch of the fountains recently, like within the last month. I’ve never drank the office water since half the fountains had plaques on them saying not to drink and I could never understand how some were not safe but some supposedly are. My group has a water cooler and we pay personally to have water delivered. I think my biggest peeve about the building is that since we don’t have break rooms, there’s nowhere to wash your coffee mug or anything other than in the communal restroom which has always struck me as incredibly unsanitary. My office is an ice box. I have an electric blanket and often wear fingerless gloves even in the summer. On the other hand, the stairwells are like a sauna. I used to sit on the first floor and we had mice, haven’t seen one since I moved to a higher floor, doesn’t mean they aren’t still in the building. Occasionally I still see dead/dying extremely large roaches on the first floor, usually by the 10th street exit. And I saw an enormous fuzzy centipede thing in the gym locker rooms the other day. Oddly I’ve killed more than one mosquito in the gym, which seems strange since it’s in the basement.
