For those that have sons at the Heights, what percentage of the Catholic families are practicing Catholics? As in they go to Mass every weekend and are involved in their local parishes?
thank you! |
|
We are Catholic and know three families at Heights. Two of them are very involved in their parishes (kids are altar servers, parents do other volunteer work). All three absolutely go to mass every week, holy day and often some weekdays as feasible.
We are not a Heights family. |

Oh gosh. You must not know much about Opus Dei. I’d do your research. Even Catholics find Opus Dei to be … too much.
Here’s a thread worth reading, but there are many more. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/229287.page |
Yes, I know all about Opus Dei, thank you. |
this is helpful, thank you! |
| Heights family here from a few years ago. Yes, practicing Catholic family with two boys sent to the Heights and girl to Stone Ridge. |
Then you would agree that it would be pretty unusual to find lightweight or non practicing Opus Dei Catholics, right? It's a silly question. Opus Dei is rather intense. |
You are the silky one. There are non-Catholics at the Heoghts. We were one such family. There were three in our small third grade class |
You seem confused. Most families at the Heights aren’t Opus Dei members. |
| I don’t get the responses on this thread. The Heights markets itself as following a conservative Opus Dei approach. Thus, it attracts conservative families looking for education aligned with conservative Catholic values and teaching. Of course there will always be a random non-Catholic who has chosen to attend the school for whatever reason. But let’s not kid ourselves that most families there are practicing Catholics who lean on the conservative end of things. And that is fine! For girls, you will find the same at Oakcrest, and that is also fine if that’s what you are looking for! |
| Probably close to 100%. |
Yes, but most are very Catholic. |
| What’s the average family size? 5 or 6 kids? |
And 100% are ok supporting an Opus Dei organization. |

Heights families are considered super-duper old school Catholics that go so far above and beyond to embrace outdated conservative beliefs not commonly held by most practicing Catholics.
It’s a big choice that says something about your family if you opt to send your kid there. Signed, Cradle Catholic from the area with many decades of visibility |
