Share your childs special interests

Anonymous
Hello,
I am a volunteer at a library who helps kids who need special needs like autism or ADHD and I was wondering if there are any parents who would like to share their child's interest (any age is preferable but I am looking forward to those who are mid-late teens or young adults). This is so I can help the kids at my local library to connect with their interests and find what things they will probably enjoy. Thanks.

12 year old has been into Metro (the subway system); numbers; flags; visual coding like Scratch; and recently the country of Japan and learning Japanese.

I’m curious OP, what Library is this?

Dirty Dancing and Patrick Swayze. Interests will be super niche.

One into all things cars and another into cats - all kinds of cats.

Other than public transportation, and Disney movies, which I have seen in more than one kid, I agree that this is super niche.

Snails for my 15 year old DD.

DS when he was little was more into vehicles, and as he grew, was more into military strategy. Both are on the spectrum.

Hands down: The Metro. He loves going places on the Metro. Has watched tons of YouTube videos of the Metro so he knows what stop is on what line. Even knows what “attractions” are at each stop so now he asks for it. My DS is 19 and functions more or less like a 6 or 7 year old. But he knows his Metro! It’s awesome!

For us, it changes every 3-6 months. Over the last few years, we’ve had: the NFL, Legos, Star Wars, Lego Star Wars, history, and spies.

I have a SN child and a large SN community and I spent a couple of decades working at Metro. I cannot tell you how many of the kids love love love all things metro. I would often take them to work and events because they loved it so much. And it didn’t fade as they grew into adulthood.

Teen loves all things related to cars and auto. Specifically the mechanics and modifications. There’s a big car scene out there. Yes, interests are so specific.
