College consultant via word-of-mouth

Searching for a college consultant to help my sophomore . Not looking for essay or application help, but rather someone who can help DC identify their strengths and genuine interests and ways to build on those through courses and extra curriculums from now until senior year.
I know this is something we could do ourselves but my DC will be way more receptive to what someone else has to say than what I have to say
I’ve often heard here that the best consultants come via word of mouth or from private referrals from friends. Yet I’m finding that people really gatekeep that information, especially on here.
