| What is the typical score on the HSPT that gets Merit money? |
| It doesn’t work like that. Most schools don’t do merit and if they do, a test score alone is not enough. |
| Many of the Catholic high schools have merit scholarships |
| 98/99% here and no merit. |
| At schools like SJC, DeMatha or Gonzaga, it’s a combo of HSPT scores, teacher recs, grades, essays and other factors like extracurriculars and dedication to service. The higher the HSPT score, the better chance of qualifying for merit scholarships but that alone does not guarantee you $$$. I have known kids with 90-95 HSPT scores who got merit money, and some with a 96-99 who did not. |
| O’Connell gives half off for a 99 |
| Gonzaga has a Presidential scholarship that's just merit and is $5k/year. Mine had 99th but I've learned from this board not everyone with 99th gets it. |
| At DJO, scholarships are offered based on HSPT scores. They start at $1,500 per year for a composite score in the 95th percentile and increases to $9,000 per year for a composite in the 99th percentile. My DC scored in this range and received a letter showing the scholarship amount per score. |
Nice! I like the transparency. |
I do wish they’d say how many Presidential scholarships they offer in each class. # or % |
Why is this the case? How do they decide who does and doesn’t get the merit scholarship? |
| 750+ |
No idea. Could be some 99th don’t have good grades. Could be people lie on this board or troll Gonzaga. |
In my DS’s class it was about 20. |

DD at AHC was selected for Honors and had HSPT score in the high 80s
