MLSN vs ECNL

Both have a lot of travel but ECNL allows HS. MLSN2 level of play is not good enough to warrant all their travel. ECNL too far away of a commute. What a shitty landscape we have.

Mlsn 2 barely travels, at least in Virginia

They dont travel much. But the MLSN2 teams in the area have beaten ECNL teams. Many of the 2 teams are rostered with former ECNL players.

What state? The posters who are saying MLSN2 doesn’t travel much 100% live in VA. There’s a decent amount of travel in the mid-Atlantic division where the MD teams play.

We are in the southeast and several clubs have trouble getting enough solid homegrown players. HS soccer is big down here and kids want that experience. Most understand all the pro pathway marketing is fluff. Next AD might fill a void but agree lots of travel and competition tier is not great on average.

No. Many of the 2 teams are rostered with former ecnl RL players, that's the equivalent league, so it makes sense.

ECNL is higher, of course.

Since half the games are home games, long distance travel is a lot less than the dramatics of this thread

This is pretty funny. The MLS 2 teams are teams that less than 12 months ago were playing in EDP or NPL or NAL. They are equivalent to ECRL (regional league). They are rostered with players from EDP and NAL and a few cut from ECNL.

They are no different than they were last year as SYCs 'B' team or St James EDP team or Alexandria's EDP team.

yes there are RL players. But other half are ECNL players. One specific team 7 out of there starting 11 played ECNL the previous season. And No RL is garbage now compared to the 2 teams. Only 2 RL teams are competitive

The 7 ECNL players cut from my DC's team are now all on MLS2. They decided to take that offer over ECNL RL. Decent players but bubble players with little playing time. No ECNL players willingly left ECNL for an MLS2 roster spot. Many leave for MLSN1 roster spot, but not for AD. Sorry. This is still the B team. MLS is trying to make some money but don't kid yourself that the 2 teams are anything other than what they were less than a year ago. The B team.

we have 4 former ECNL starters. They all know they arent going to play college so why keep up crazy commitments.

Name the team that got 4 ECNL starters who were not cut by their team. I call BS. They don’t want to play college so they jump to next 2 …..where they pay 3k and have yo take 4 days off school and travel to Arizona ….for a college showcase. Very believable.

7 players cut from 1 team?

That seems like an ECNL issue. If you have that kind of turnover the team/club cant be that good.
