cost of pre-fab shower including installation

We live in an older home in McLean and are doing a basement renovation. We are adding a bathroom and wanted to put in a pre-fab shower (includes the fixtures, door, shelves) to save money. However, we want to have the labor done for us. For the shower plus labor, we've been quoted $18,000 by Kohler (got their luxstone product) and $14,000 for a less upscale acrylic product by American Standard. This is a lot more than what we anticipated. I sort of understand the Kohler one because it looks high end but the basic acrylic price, wow. Has anyone had one of these installed recently and willing to share how much you paid? Trying to gauge if we need to keep shopping around.

I recently had this done in a basement bathroom in a house in Silver Spring, MD. I was looking for a basic product. Not sure of the maker of the shower, but it was purchased by the contractor at Home Depot. The total cost of the vinyl prefab shower unit, including the pan, walls, and glass, plus the cost of installation was $3700. I reused the existing shower head and handle. Hope this helps.

I think Home Depot has installation options if you purchase their products. This shower kit sounds like it is exactly the type of thing Home Depot sells.
Go talk to their design desk and see if they provide such services.
