I wear mostly GAP, LL Bean, J Crew, Banana Republic. I hate shopping. I am 53, size M. I need some fabulous cocktail attire for a fashionable party. A) What is cocktail attire? B) What brands am I looking for, under $300?

Go to Macy's, they have plenty of options in your price range, take your time and find something comfortable that makes you feel like you look terrific

Yes if it's cocktail attire per the invite or stated dress code. Too much.
Cocktail often is not floor length. Knee length, maybe midi.
But pants work!
