I am closing next week. Any cleaning tips? I want them to walk in and be happy all over again about their choice.
I am nervous lol. I keep thinking about so.many things that could go wrong, so I just want to focus on what I can control.and cleaning the place is something I have total control over. Is it worth hiring someone to clean the place? It's s a small house 2k sqft, so I feel like that money could be spent better elsewhere. |
| Sure, hire a cleaner. Cleanliness is next to godliness. |
| I wouldn't worry about it. They won't try back out because they find crumbs. They should be hiring people to do a very deep clean before they move their stuff in. |
| No. If it passes walk through, you are home free. |
|
OP its a nice gesture.
We didnt have time to do a deep clean prior to move-in since it was literally the day MD shut down when we closed and the buyers moved out the same day we moved in. No joke- they still had a pod in our driveway that was delayed getting picked up because of staffing issues. My next house purchase will 1000% have it done and any work we want performed beforehand. But if you have a business you like, ask them for once last clean. Leave their card with a note to the buyers and stocked toilet paper along with well wishes. |

Hire someone.
They send of crew of 2-4 people and it’s done quickly. |
| I personally don't think cleaning an empty house is difficult, but do whatever makes you feel better. |

We sold our house and moved locally to our next house. We got our new house and old house - deep cleaned by the same cleaning company. We had spruced up the yard and power-washed the driveway of the old house for the showing.
We had to stay a bit longer in our old house after closing because we were doing some upgrades to the new house we were moving to - carpets, new blinds, painting - etc...so we wanted to show our thanks to the incoming family. We left bottles of water in the fridge, paper towel, new sponge and dishwashing liquid in the kitchen, Also left bottles of liquid hand-soap and toilet paper in all the bathrooms of the old house. It was noticed and appreciated. |
| last house sale, the well pump broke two days before closing. cleaning is nice (especially the fridge and the bathrooms), but the contract requires "broom clean". ymmv. |
| Usually the contract says something like the house will be left “broom clean.” You don’t need to do anything beyond making sure all your stuff is gone and that the house gets a basic cleaning of the floors, kitchen and bathrooms. If you feel like going above and beyond you can have cleaners to a more thorough cleaning of the inside of cabinets and appliances. |
| Do light touch paint instead. |
Sure and also totally unnecessary …. |
Huh? no why would they do this? That’s hundreds/thousands of dollars. |

The baseboards and crevices are always horrifying. Tell the new owners that it is your gift to them. They will be thrilled.
We had to sue the previous owner over rotting food and human body fluids. |
This is the correct answer. |
