| We have an upper‑elementary FCPS kid; looking to switch to private for 7–12. Prefer progressive/less religious but open to anything. We’re on the Vienna/Reston border, so hoping to keep the commute reasonable. Would love recommendations or experiences. |
| Confirming - do you want a school that will carry you from 7-12, or are you looking for 7-8, and then 9-12? |
| Prefer 7-12 but will consider both |
| Progressive educational approach or Progressive politically? Those 2 are not the same. |
| Flint Hill is one option. They have some bus service as an option. |
| +1 Flint Hill. Their middle school is especially impressive and starts in seventh grade so it's a good entry year. |
Agree Flint Hill woukd be the obvious choice, but there are at least two secular K-8s in that direction, Green Hedges and Edlin. Also The New School of No. Va. is 6-12, but it's further from you than Flint Hill. |
| Flint Hill, Potomac, New School of VA, SSSAS (Episcopalian; the religion is a fairly light touch), approximately in order of increasing distance from you. |
| Ideaventions and Flont Hill |

| Why are the private 7-12 options so slim in this part of Northern VA? Where also the FCPS pyramid isn’t the highest ranked (realize rankings aren’t everything but they’re something). |
| Flint Hill |
I do not know why. I am convinced there is sufficient demand for an additional K-12 private school or even 7-12 private school between Oakton/Fairfax City and the Loudoun County line. At this point, sufficient land for another school would be expensive and hard to find. |
| Why do we never hear about Flint Hill on Dcum? |
Because you’re new here? FH hate-boner posters cycle through every several months or so. |
