We're thinking of maybe splurging on a Club Med vacation. But looking at the website, almost all the rooms have a limit of 4 people.
What do families with more than 2 kids do? Do you put your kids in a different room? |
| You pay for two hotel rooms. |
| They get two adjoining rooms or a suite. |
|
We've done CM Punta Cana with 4 kids. We got a suite and it had 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. The big kids slept in one room and we slept in the other with the little kids. One little one was on the pull out couch and the other was an infant at the time so they were in the pack n play.
I brought the baby monitor and the location was perfect. The pool was steps from the room. I could watch the bigger kids in the pool and still hear if the baby cried. |

For a family of five, the current pricing for two rooms or a suite is prohibitive at every single all-inclusive we have looked into.
So instead we stay in nice resorts and just pay for our food, drinks and activities. Knowing the cost of an all-inclusive helps us loosen our purse strings. Better to spend $300/day on food and drinks for the family than to spend $1200 / night for an all-inclusive. Especially when the all-inclusive does not actually include bigger activities, so you still would spend more on excursions. etc. |
Same. The numbers just never worked - or even came close - for our family of five. |
Will they let you put more people in the room than the description says? |
It's been a while so I don't remember. Maybe because the baby was in the pack n play, we were able to do it? |

We have stayed at Club Med Miches and they have family rooms in the la Perla section that have a third room that has 2 large sofa/daybeds. One bedroom with a king and adjoining bathroom, then there is the extra third room (has desk, the mini fridge, then these two large day beds that can turn into beds), then a long hallway, then the other official bedroom with 2 twin beds and a smaller bathroom.
You can probably fit at least 6 people in these suites. |
The question is will they allow you to? I know you can sneak little kids into other hotels, but I assume every kid needs a wrist band or something to get fed etc . . . which means the resort needs to know they exist. Our youngest is 4. |
|
No. You have to register the number of people you have with you. I just plugged in a reservation for 6 people for the 2nd week of Jan for 6 people: 2A/4K. For ease, I assigned the kids ages 10, 8, 6, and 4.
It looks like for 6 people, you will have to get 2 rooms. |
PP here. Yes, that is what the third room and two day beds are for; I thought my post was clear. Go to their website and check under deluxe and suite. They have options for 5-6 people. https://www.clubmed.us/r/miches-playa-esmeralda/y?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=SEA_BR_ALL_Google_US_EN_Multi-Product_LH_Multi-resort&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19311535181&gbraid=0AAAAAD5uxOCjvD9MMWS1BiOzBjhtbeFxu&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsNPKBhCqARIsACm01fRwfd_dYfH4UAZm1qMad-MM4MjiUWwpem7VPwhnOY7K-pGj2k4fnuQaAhF5EALw_wcB |

We have a family of 5. Just booked our first AI and we are doing 2 adjoining rooms. It was much cheaper than a suite.
But I thought Club Med had family rooms that sleep 5. At least that’s what I remember from my resort search. I looked at Cancun and the Miches locations. |
| Some CM family suites sleep 5, most 4. A baby in a crib (under 2) is usually allowed in a family suite for 4, but they have your passport so there is no fudging ages. |

We are doing our first all inclusive experience with our three kids: two toddlers and a baby. At Club Med Punta Cana, we chose the exclusive suite which is two bedroom 2 bath; the second room has two twin beds. We chose Club Med because I’m fairly certain it was the only option I saw in the Caribbean (accessible via direct flight) with Kid Clubs for each of our age groups (although we are paying a bit extra for the baby). The Kids Clubs all receive rave reviews which was important to me - I both want a break but will worry a bit, especially about the baby!
It is a $$$ trip compared to our typical vacation, but less expensive than Beaches (which was 2x!). I wanted a “nicer” option that wasn’t insanely expensive but TBD in value…we shall see. I do think my kids will love it - water park, kid friendly amenities, etc. |
