| I’ve had minor cold symptoms since Saturday with some body aches/cough. Yesterday I felt like I got hit by a truck, worse body aches, fever (never run a fever), headache, coughing up phlegm, etc. I am so exhausted and don’t remember feeling like this before. I was thinking maybe I picked up the flu and was hoping for Tamiflu, but was negative for everything at UC. Has anyone had this? The dr said my lungs sounded fine. I’m just hoping it doesn’t last long. |
| A lot of people have it. |
Yup. It's a pretty standard winter virus. |
| Yep. And be prepared for the cough to linger for weeks. And for it to turn into a sinus infection needing antibiotics. Kid and I are both on antibiotics right now from it…. |
| Yes, we all have this right now. Minor symptoms like a normal cold for the first couple of days, then a sudden worsening with fever and hacking cough. But then getting better again pretty soon after that. |
Get yourself a nasal rinse and some flonase! |
| I still have this virus. Started a week ago. Had to nap during the day. Thought I had a fever over the weekend. uC tested for everything; all were negative. Still not back to normal. |
| I have it. I was sent home from work yesterday after they tested me for flu and Covid, both negative. Temp 100.5 yesterday but I don't know what it is now because I dropped the thermometer and it broke. My doctor friend put me on anibiotics due to my asthma history. I'm freezing all the time, wearing 3 layers plus a blanket, and still shivering sitting in from of a space heater. |
| *front. I can't type now either. |
| You likely have a very nasty cold. It can be worse than a flu. |
| Yes, it sucks. |
| Mask up people! Clean your houses with bleach. |
I rarely go out and always mask and got it at a Dr apt. Do you mask all the time? If not stop telling others too. |
| I have a cold now but no fever. I’m on Day 3. Odd thing is I did not start with any sore throat like I normally do. It started with runny nose and congestion. |

I’ve seen a number of FB and social media posts by doctors saying you should take Mucinex or some such to dry up the mucus, something like xyzal or another antihistamine, take hot showers, gargle with salt water if your throat bothers you and follow up with hot tea and honey, and alternate Tylenol and Motrin for fever and aches.
This is all fairly standard. But the best advice is to hunker down, avoid close contact and touch points, and wash your hands. Do not use a shared hand towel; use paper towels and dial soap in your house and carry purell in your pocket and car. I’m trying to avoid getting sick before I return to work next week, and I’ll be vigilant in the office. Honestly, I’m beginning to wonder about some of my friends and loved ones who are constantly sick. I’m wondering if they don’t take precautions or wash their hands. |
