My daughter is 16. We got a car that she will mostly drive. My husband took her to the DMV to get it registered and a license plate. The license plate that she was given starts SXY - so her license plate will read SXY 4444 or something. She looked at it and said - Sexy? I can't drive a car that says Sexy! The woman working at the DMV said, "Well, you are sexy!" and refused to change the license plate. Now my daughter is in tears and says she will not drive around in the car.
What are my options? Do you think if I go back and explain the situation, they will change it? Or does she just have to live with it? |

| Have her come up with a custom plate number and pay the $10 for it. |

I would have laughed SO HARD. Maybe your daughter needs to lighten up. But I believe you can change it if you wish. Perhaps she wants a custom one and pick out the letters and numbers?

| Swap them. I heard another person with a similar issue on theirs when it arrived. Your DH should have been more insistent. I'm guessing he was too uncomfortable to advocate for his kid. Ugh. |

| Your daughter is correct. And as a parent I would not want my older teen DD driving around with that license plate. Teen drivers, especially female ones, are target enough out there on the roads. You do not want anything that encourages such attention. Trust me. |

| Totally inappropriate for an adult to tell a 16 yr old she's sexy - so gross. But yeah, get her a custom plate. I also would not want my DD driving around with a license plate like that. BBRFVR is the type of thing I'd tease my DD I'd get her. |

Your daughter needs to lighten up and be happy she has a plate she’ll be able to remember. Someone is making a much bigger deal out of this than it is but that’s a conversation for another time. Just order her a personalized plate so you can pick what it says and she’ll stop crying. Make sure you choose what goes it in, if you just pick an organization plate you run the same risk.
