| Pastries by Randolph in Arlington used to have the best croissants, but they changed owners about a year ago and things went downhill fast. We've tried several other bakeries, but the croissants were either chewy or dense or just generally blah. Any recommendations for bakeries with a great croissant in close-in NOVA (or DC)? |
| Pluma has the best croissants in DC, IMHO. |
| Bread Furst in DC. Nothing else close. |
The new owners thing explains the Christmas pick-up debacle... |
| We have decided that the Trader Joe’s croissants are good enough and it helps that we can eat them fresh out of the oven. |
| Costco. |
| Another vote for Bread Furst |
| Lidl |
| If you want less traditional croissants, Yellow is great (Union Market location— though Georgetown location is good too). Bonus because Bread Alley is across the street, which has some of the best loaves in DC. |
| Fresh Baguette |
| Gustave in Del Ray has authentic pain au chocolat (chocolate croissants ) and other pastries but I haven’t tried their plain croissants. |
| OP here, thank you! Please keep the recommendations coming. |
Yes, the new owners are from the Swiss Bakery and it has changed a lot... they really should have changed the name. |
Agree Though Fresh Baguette is also good |
Lidl is not good |
