Just received my Prunus mume 'Peggy Clarke'

It is 3 ft, bare root in a box. Should I plant it outside now? Is it OK if it freezes outside at night? For some reason it did not come with instruction. It is supposed to bloom in winter so I guess it is safe outside?

Call the place you got them from and ask.

Are you in the DMV? This is not a typical planting time for the region.

It is a gift. I contacted the seller and they said best is planting it in the ground, even with freezing night temperatures. Can't wait for it to bloom next winter.

Good luck with it. Use mulch or even shredded paper over the bare earth.
