| Would you buy there? Why or why not? |
| Yes. Best value in Fairfax county. Low taxes, great location, good town govt, and improving schools. I don’t live there but looking to purchase investment property as surrounding locales way out of my range. |
| We moved out of Fairfax city into the county for a “better” school pyramid and regret it. Fairfax City is well run and has excellent services. |
| We live there and love it. |
| Maybe. Services are great. Having lived in the county it’s a huge perk to have trash, recycling, and snow removal run by the city. Great to walk downtown to festivals and restaurants. However, unaddressed issues with parking, overcrowded streets, speeding through neighborhoods, lack of sidewalks, particularly in areas near GMU. There has also been approved quite a bit of new high density housing. Traffic is oftena nightmare on major roads and through downtown and will get worse if not addressed. No current viable plans to mitigate. So, it’s a trade-off. |
| There's a fair amount of traffic but the schools are good given housing costs. |
| If you have kids in school consider location in the city. We live in the city and love everything about it except school transit. The schools are solid but man, glad to not have my kid sit on long bus rides or drive through city traffic to get to KJMS. County schools are closer but locked into KJ and FHS if you live in city boundaries. |

It’s not REALLY a city.
Great value for the location real estate wise. The city council is largely seen as inept by residents who pay attention. It amazes me that a mile or two up the road you have Vienna where the town council actually enforces zoning rules and seeks to maintain high property values with ultra low crime and top ranked schools whereas city of Fairfax seeks an opposite view of the world where everything is a zoning variance, has to be affordable or free, and as a result home values and school rankings lag far behind. |
It’s because you have a bunch of college students voting in Fairfax city that are not invested in the long-term success/quality of life of the community. College students vote on vibes and memes, they don’t care about the future consequences because they won’t live there later. |
Vienna DOES NOT run their school system - owned and operated by Fairfax County. Vienna re taxes are a rip off vs what you get in return. Home prices are bloated. Fairfax city a far better value |
| Are schools good in City of Fairfax? |

Can get a house there for as little as 630K.
Granted small, but redone and been sitting at this price awhile so I bet you could get it for maybe 600K with a strong offer. I mean it is just priced a bit higher than condos or townhomes with no HOA so that is not horrible. https://www.redfin.com/VA/Fairfax/10833-Warwick-Ave-22030/home/12026024 |
