Summer school info posted

Anonymous
I just noticed that some preliminary mcps summer school info, including session dates, is posted: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/extendedhours/summerschool/

It’s lacking some specifics, but I’m finding it helpful as my family sits down over winter break to think about summer schedules, especially for my kid who wants to finish up health this summer, so I thought I’d share.

Am I reading it correctly that Honors Health is only offered in person while regular Health is virtua?

Thank you, OP!

Mcps only has honors health - there’s not a non-honors version.

+1.

Also I’m not seeing the virtual course offerings listed yet.

Are they limiting spots for virtual? I noticed this: “In-person and limited Virtual High School Summer School Programs will be offered this summer.”

Looks like they are only offering health, tech, and comp sci as virtual this year, and everything else is in person (8 am to 2:30 every day, one of 6 locations that aren’t yet posted).

So it’s just poor design that the in-person link shows Honors Health and the virtual courses list “health”

Probably, plus the website looks like it’s still being updated.

It looks like in person will be at 5 schools. I think in the past it was only at 1 school.

Also, it says that the counselor will register the kid. Does anyone know whether this is done by the middle school counselor for a current 8th grader who will be taking health over the summer? My kid would prefer to do it in person than online.

"Speak with your counselor about registration."

Incompetent as usual.

I thought that they were still uploading the courses. But maybe not.

Oops, in person is at 6 regional schools, not 5.

Wow - some big changes. At least the in person dates are *way* later than the on line dates have traditionally been. Has in person typically been the same dates as online?

Limited online means you have to sit for most classes in person every day from 8:00AM - 2:30PM. This isn’t going to be appealing for students trying to get ahead.

PE isn’t offered. Are there any summer PE options like at Montgomery College to meet PE requirement?
