I started the other post on ACPS, but have another question. Does ACPS teach Spanish or other languages at elementary schools that are not part of the immersion program?
I have never heard of it being offered during school hours. Some after-school enrichment classes do, however. (I realize that’s not quite comparable, but it still might be of interest.)
I believe that students at Jefferson Houston receive Spanish language as it is an IB school. Two other schools have Spanish immersion; Mount Vernon Community School and John Adams Elementary. For all the talk about equity at ACPS there actually isn't any when it comes to the subject of foreign language. It's unbelievably unfair the advantages some students attending one elementary over an another are receiving when it comes to foreign language instruction.
