I pulled in to get gas with my 8 week old and my 2 year old. My tank is on the left-hand side. The person in front of me getting gas didn't pull up very far but no biggie, I just pulled my car in at an angle with the nose pointing to 2 o'clock so I could get my tank closer to the pump. So here I am pumping gas, making faces at my 2 year old who is cracking up because Mommy is hilarious. The guy in front of me has left and another car has pulled in to my right to use the pump adjacent to mine and has been there a good 5 minutes.
All of a sudden this woman appears from behind my car. "Nice parking job by the way." For some reason my brain was actually working and I was able to process this fast and deduce what she was complaining about, decide against explaining myself or snapping at her in return. Very unlike me. I decide to piss her off further by remaining calm. She had been close enough to see that I had 2 babies in the car. She had been there stewing over this for 5 minutes working up the courage to confront me, and I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction. I just gave her a closed-lipped smile. She was confused. "You realize how you parked, right?!" She gestured to my car and I was able to see that she had plenty of room to pull her car in, obviously, and even if it were a little tight for her liking, there were other pumps she could have used (although she would have had to turn her vehicle around). I just looked at her a said, "Have a nice day lady." She stormed off muttering. I was so pleased with myself! |
| Bravo. Nothing drives people crazier than your niceness in the face of their rudeness. |
| Awesome! |
clearly she was too stupid to realize that nobody parks like you did without a reason like the one you had. (you were working around the other car that was there when you got there.) good for you, taking the high road. I probably would have responded as you did except I would have finished it by saying <<freak>> or <<bitch>> kind of under my breath but just loud enough for her to hear.

| A few weeks ago, I moved someone's grocery cart a couple feet so that I could get past. (WHY do the stores insist on putting those flimsy little cardboard displays in the aisles?? Grr. But that's another issue.) The woman caught up with me two aisles later, and told me in a pretty nasty, almost threatening tone, that "for my own safety" I shouldn't touch other people's things. (There was no purse in the cart or anything, and she was taking her sweet time with her soup selection.) I waited politely for her to finish, and then smiled and said "thank you". I kept standing there and looking at her, pleasant expression on my face. She opened her mouth as if to retort, then stomped off, muttering. I guess she was really looking for a fight, and I disappointed her! |
| Another thing to say to rude people is, "Thank you for sharing your feelings with me," smile and walk away. Makes them crazy. |

I can't believe I lost 2 minutes of my day to read this and got no laughter out of it.
Useless post. |

| way to go. but you know someone else after you got twice as much crap from her. |
Thank you for sharing your feelings with me! (Just practicing.)

I saw a lady refuse to move for someone in a grocery store in Vienna recently. The lady had asked really nicely about three times (with pauses in between - I was behind her), but the other lady refused to move. She was holding everyone up, obviously on purpose. Something happened to upset the kids with the first lady and she asked: "are you hurt?" - the bitchy lady then took off. I saw the other lady take a picture of (the bitchy lady's) car and I swore the police were going to show up. That would have been awesome!
WHY do people insist on parking their carts (or asses) in the middle of the aisle in the grocery stores here? Is this yet another pissing contest? It seems they don't respect themselves, so they consequently don't respect others. Is it a military thing? It is puzzling. It does not happen in other parts of the country. PP, it sounds like that lady was threatening you! I would have said so to her. With camera phones so prevalent, I would think people would have a brain to be civilized even if they don't want to be. But there is hardly any common sense here. Damn shame for them. It used to bother me, but assholes are everywhere here, so I usually just laugh in their face. They really are ridiculous. There was a post a couple months ago asking if Giant is the new road rage. I think it is! |
I really wonder if some people are so bored and discontent with their own lives that they purposely live to try to piss other people off. Grocery store can be a madhouse. And for some reason, people seem to think they can't get to the dairy and produce and other aisles fast enough or someone else is going to get their groceries before them. I mean, really. Unfortunately, I can't react with a smile on my face. They always seem to tick me off and I have a hard time not reacting in a way that they were probably looking for to begin with. |
| A little crazy to feel the need to celebrate this on DCUM. |
