Faulty locks on new volvo

Anonymous
We are leasing a 2025.5 Volvo XC 90 hybrid. The car has been glitchy from the beginning. The biggest issue is on three separate occasions the back door locks have stopped working, and you cannot open the door from the inside or the outside. This is happening on both sides of the car, though not at the same time. The first time this happened we were unable to open the back door for over two hours.

The dealership cannot recreate the issue since it is intermittent and they cannot appear to identify the problem. They suggested that they could replace the locking mechanism on both doors, but I do not think this is an adequate solution. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue might be and what I should push for? This is obviously an enormous safety issue as

The forums related to a particular car manufacturer or even model are better resources. Lost of people much more expert and a broader reader base.

Tip - if it happens again, video it

Thank you. I did video it the last time and showed it to the dealership/maintenance team.

My issue is that I am not convinced that replacing the locks is an adequate solution. It doesn't make sense that both locks are bad but only intermittently malfunction.

I’m gonna guess it’s the master window switch. This is the main window switch panel usually on the driver door.

Things like you described happened on our car, a Honda, and that switch was the culprit.

I can’t help you but sighed when I read this - I had the same issue with my 2005 S40, within a few months of buying it new. Lots of things were replaced (under warranty) and I traded it in the month the warranty expired. Good luck!
