Could be a movie too. I’m just interested to hear who other people identify with. Sometimes an on screen relationship that seems so fake to me perfectly describes someone else.
So, what couples of the big or small screen seem most like you and your spouse and why? |
| Simpsons but he works at a bank not a power plant |
| This Is 40.. |
I related so much to the couple in that movie. Everything from the kids banging on the door while she’s giving him a BJ to both of them jokingly admitting they had thought about how to murder the other. |
| Cheater (singular) |
|
Jim and Pam on “The Office” if Jim had kept the big job he had in the last couple of seasons.
We were very close and best friends when we got married. DH makes me laugh. We had kids quickly afterward, he got a job working more hours and making more money, and I kind of had to figure out how to build our lives and family around it or lose it. |
| Hart to Hart. |
| Honeymooners. Maybe Happy Days. |
| Leslie Knope and Ben in Parks & Rec |
Aww….That’s not my marriage, but it strikes me as “real” and relatable. |

Probably something like the couple on Modern family (the hetero marriage where the husband is the realtor). DH is kind and loving but also not very helpful around the house, sometimes gets himself or the family into annoying scrapes, and can be exasperating. But is good hearted. I'm the beleaguered Type A wife who helps him and puts up with him and sometimes seems like I hate it but underneath it all am grateful for my life.
Full disclosure: I only watched like one season of that show. |
| Honeymooners, sadly. |
| Lucy and Ricky |
| Kitty and Red from That 70s Show |
| Bluey. I work and love my kids. DH does a lot of the running around with our two girls. |
