Thoughts on John-Paul?

What do we think of John-Paul? I'm a big fan of traditional double first names and think it would be perfect. DH says that it has been growing on him.

It's nice to see a post about a boy's name for once. Majority of posts on DCUM are about girl's names for some reason. You'd think every DCUMer only has daughters.

Anyway, I like John-Paul. I do wonder if the hyphen would cause issues with legal documents. I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle. You might want to take that into consideration.

It sounds like a Catholic schoolboy turned college frat bro who exclusively goes by JP and is kind of d*uchey. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not a fan. Plus it will peg him as super Christian.

Are you Catholic? It's the name of the former pope, now saint. I would think you were a great admirer of his and Catholic.

Also has whiff of JonBenet to me. Unless you're French or French Canadian, a double name with John seems an odd choice.

No, it will peg him as Catholic. It sounds like a Pope.

I know an Evangelical family with boys John and Paul. Makes sense if you’re going for the apostles vibe.

I love the sound of it. I agree it comes across as very Catholic, and a specific type of Catholics. I'm Catholic, but wouldn't use it because I am not a fan of Saint Pope JPII, because of his handling of child sexual abuse.

Another combination that is I love John Luke. I wish John Thomas didn't have a slang meaning, but it does.

John and Paul are going to be popular names in many Christian denominations. But Paul was not an apostle.

The hyphen will be troublesome on plane tickets, boarding passes, stuff that has to mstch ID.
Call him John Paul George. Paul is middle name but you can always say it as one name.

That is because it is more socially acceptable to give girls unconventional (and sometimes ridiculous) names. People mostly stick to classic names for boys, so there isn't all that much to discuss. Male names are considered "boring".

John Paul George is a great name if your last name happens to be Ringo!

I would definitely assume Catholic. Or possibly huge Beatles fan.

I don’t like double barreled names. I would do them as first name, middle name.
