Staying with S/BiL and their twins, boy and girl, graduating from college in spring. I'm supposed to bring stuffed stockings. What should I do?
Childless aunt |
|
Uber/Lift Gift Cards
Lotto tickets Extra charger/solar charger Chocolates |
|
Chocolate or candy or candy canes
gift cards to Amazon Toiletries that people always need like toothbrushes hair ties toothpaste Travel sized lotions and soaps Face wipes Lottery tickets Chap sticks Hand warmers if they ski or snowboard Fuzzy socks |
| Those are the worst lists ever. I currently have a college senior and she scoffed when I read lists to her. No lotto tickets. DD said funky socks, gift card for local coffee place near their college, cool snacks, grocery store gift card. |
| Interesting candies (World Market), small but fun games (Exploding Kittens, Anomia), fidgets, gift cards to places they like- Chipotle, Dunkin Donuts, whatever, small kitchen things for new apartments - spatula, zester, wooden spoon, things for their cars, snow scraper, tool that cuts the seat belt and breaks open a windows if trapped, putty/cleaner, etc. |
| Wander around Trader Joe's or World Market for fun snacks. Dollar Tree has fun novelty socks and you may see some other odds and ends like Super Glue. |
|
That's sweet of you. Sal of they have any traditions. We always got an orange in the toe.
Other ideas: Deck of playing cards Nice pens Hair ties and accessories Specific items for hobbies like reeds for the sax player and chalk for the rock climber Mini flash light Chocolate Candy Cane hung over the side |
I won $250 last month on a scratch off. Also, stockings aren't just money grabs. --DP |
Please tell your scoffing teen that these are basic AF so please chill out. |
| What are the twins’ interests/majors/personalities? |
Lol the scoffing teen needs to hold up a mirror |
|
Water bottles (Stanley, etc.)
Phone charging cords/portable chargers Socks Gift cards (chipotle, etc.) Skin care products/body wash (all the travel size items near the registers at Sephora are great options, for guys do Jack Black products) Summer Fridays lip gloss Candy Rolled up tshirt Candle Hairbrush |
|
Multi-color mini sharpies or multi-colored fine point sharpies or highlighters (can split sets between the two)
Post-its Full size candy bars or movie candy like milk duds, lemon heads, red hots, swedish fish, ice-caps A pair of inexpensive knit winter gloves if you're in a cold area. They lose them. A roll of $20 or even more in ones. It's fun to hold a roll full of cash, even small denominations, and in my experience so far, a lot of gift cards never get used at all. They play games with each other for $1 bets. Deck of cards. You'd be surprised how many kids today don't even have one deck of actual old style playing cards. Give them money to bet and they learn old games. A stocking is meant to be filled with fun doo-dads and other non-consequential stuff like this. Lighthearted, light to carry, not thrown away, useful, fun |
A college senior is 21 or 22, not a teen! |
Not a big difference between a 19 and 21/22 year old. And who the heck asks for “funky socks?” |
