post menopause bleeding - ultrasound or biopsy

Anonymous
I am not sure when my last period was. i am 58. I think I had spotting back in February but if that doesn't count, it's been about 2 years since the last "real" period. A few days ago, started bleeding pretty heavy. Lasted about 2 days and then normal bleeding for a day or so and then tapered off.
I saw gyno since this shouldnt be happening and she told me I can eitehr have an ultrasound or endometrial biopsy. She thinks the ultrasound is sufficient but said it's my call. What would you?

ultrasound 10000000% no question

IME they start with the u/s but proceed to biopsy if they find nothing. I would ask your doc why she's treating it like either/or.

I had an ultrasound and then based on those results ended up having a hysteroscopy.

Ultrasound first. The endometrial biopsy may not find polyps, etc. Hysteroscopy with biopsies is better after ultrasound.

I'm going for an ultrasound and biopsy.

Both. My gyno did the biopsy during my appointment, then I went for the ultrasound. Best wishes.

I have another thread on this issue. What were your symptoms?
