Due to family issues - someone I know is now living on her own at a very young age. She just moved from a shelter to her own apartment and does not have a car.[mastodon]
Anyway - I'm coming back to the area and plan to take her to lunch and gift her a Metro card with $100. Where can I pickup a gift card loaded with $100 for transportation? Ideally before meeting her and I do not want to give her cash or a visa card. |

There's this thing called "Google" and it's amazing how searching there can help.

| Buy the Smartrip card. She should register it immediately so that she can recover the balance if it’s lost or stolen. |
| You don't need a card anymore. Tap on phone. Most all metropolitan systems have that option. |

How athletic is she?
Can't she hop over the turnstiles like most other DC residents do? |
First rule of DCUM: Don't be a dick. |
Cool sarcasm, bro. But have you not heard that Google has gone way downhill since the advent of AI? It has become almost worthless. |
Here's a Reddit thread about the decline of Google. Maybe this should be in a separate topic. Sorry for the rough language: https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/1cc83vr/the_specific_process_by_which_google_enshittified/ |
| Urm, I ask a question in my Chrome search box and AI answers |
And get **** answers - real people with real experiences are better (but yes this particular example it's not a particularly hard question and you just look like a ****) |
