How do you prove the following in regards to the sequence (1 + 1/n)^n ?

How do you prove that this is a strictly increasing sequence and that each term in the sequence is less than 3? Thanks!

OP I forgot to mention that I want to prove these things without assuming that the sequence converges to e. Indeed, I want to pretend I know nothing about the number e.

The first part is probably an application of the ratio test.

For the second, it sounds like computing a convergence radius.

It also sounds like homework.
