Best Book with College Information

I know books are retro, but I was thinking like the big books we used to have in the 90s with all the information in them? Does anyone have a rec? Its for a Christmas gift.

There was a thread recently started 12/12 titled 'do you guys look at Barron's book? Or something like that as the thread title. Could be on page 3 or 4 by now on this forum. Try seeing what people said on that thread.

Fond memories of those books. Let's bring them back to popularity!

I would give a book like this. Kids these days like video reviews, video application information, etc. I couldn't get my son interested in the Fiske Guide.

I think a book that focuses on the goals of college rather than data lists would be very useful - assuming it gets read.

Look at Selingo's new book also. Dream School. It's very new. And even if none of the schools are of interest, the criteria may be.

Too old. A bunch of schools in the book have gone out of business.

Of the ones I've borrowed from the library, I liked these the best. Each serves a different purpose.

Fiske Guide: good basic overview to look up a school

Colleges Worth Your Money: has more detailed info on each school's career counseling office and examples of popular internships or employers or "outcome"

Selingo's Dream School: a good way to think about how to assess a school
