| I sed some young girls can do flips, cartwheel, and split. Where do they learn them? Those girls seem know how to dance, do they take specific class like ballet, gymnastics, acrob or hip hop? DD7 wants to learn all these moves in a fun way but her body is not flexible. |
| Gymnastics classes for sure. Where do you live? We can give you suggestions for places based on that. |
| Gymnastics and/or dance |

OP we learned this in the 70s just being bored and outside. Same thing with braiding hair.
It drove me insane that it didn't happen organically with DD. I taught her "enough" on the lawn and then she learned more at gymnastics. She still can't braid hair (yet) 😂 |
| OP- at gymnastics. She’ll build up to flips, or not. It’s not for everyone. But gyms have mats, spotters, etc. |

I remember my kid, around 6, saying everyone at school could do a cartwheel except her. I put her in a parks and rec gymnastics class figured mg it would be fun and she'd learn a cartwheel. They didn't teach cartwheels! Some kids came in able to do them and some didn't and the coaches offered no tips for how to get better. So she still didn't know. I tried to teach her but truthfully my cartwheels are crap (especially now) so that wasn't useful.
Then one day she came home and said a friend had taught her at recess. Sure enough, she had a somewhat wobbly but decent form cartwheel. It's been a couple years and now she does acro at a dance studio and loves it. I think the reason other girls learned before her is older sisters. It's funny that cartwheels and other gymnastics/dance moves are social currency with girls, but they are. |
Yep. Hours of flipping around and trial-and-error in backyards, basements, and playgrounds. I also took classes and competed for awhile, but most of my tumbling skills were honed while goofing around at home. |
| Op here. We live near Quince Orchard high school in gaithersburg. Any suggestions? |
Yes. Google. |

Some kids come out of the womb having the skills to pick up athletics really easily. DD saw a kid do a cartwheel, and then she did one. Same with splits, backwalkovers, handstands, etc. First time she threw a football it was a perfect spiral.
Some kids need to be taught those basics. |
