Choosing between base school and center school for middle school

Anonymous
I see both pros and cons of both our base middle school and the center school.

What would be your deciding factors?

(Our base elementary school happens to be a center, so we didn't have to make a choice in elementary school.)

Let your kid decide. Mine chose center since that’s where most friends ( friend group) go.

My kid is leaning toward the base school because a few of our neighbors' kids have had the AA teachers at that school (but not in AA classes) and said they are good and kind teachers. My kid also prefers the way the base school does recess. I'm not sure recess should be a deciding factor, but when you're eleven years old, that's more important than most other things.

I think AAP is less impactful in middle school than elementary school imo, so if center is going to be a pain for whatever reason (logistics, big transition in 9th, etc.), I would choose base.

It's for the kid to decide, but if it's up to me, I'll choose center for the same reason many parents of non-center schools choose AAP center in the first place, all full-time AAP students in one classroom.
