| We have dark solid wood bedroom furniture we would like to freshen up with white or gray paint. Would use professional painters but wondering if this is even a useful exercise (cost-wise, and whether the paint will truly cover)? I see HGTV shows where they repaint kitchen cupboards and am inspired. Any guess as to how much it would cost (2 dressers, potentially a queen bed frame too)? Thanks! |
| We did it with a queen poster bed with carved finials and it’s gorgeous. We primed it first. I did it in my garage so my only issue is that I had a few drips on the headboard that dried before I noticed them so that’s a bummer. If you have it professionally done, that won’t be an issue. If you look at the main cottage stuff, it will give you a sense of the painted antique or vintage furniture. |
| Be sure to specify how they will deal with drawer edges. Insides, etc. i didn't and have a dark wood cabinet with the insides of the doors dark and a raggedy paint line at the inside edge. It makes me very unhappy but I didn't know to specify. Also it can chip. |

Oh my.
Painting real wood gray is a very dated look. |
Paint it whatever color you want but if you want white or gray just because you think it’s more modern, it’s actually dark wood that’s now “in” so you’re going against the grain, no pun intended : ) |
Also not sure where you are but Furniture Rescue in Fairfax repaints furniture you already own and is super reasonable |
