My kids just graduated from college, but they loved their time at LBSS thanks to the music department and LB Theatre. Mr. Allen conducted the orchestra as part of Mr. Mirabal's musical production. Reading some of the details outlined in this article and knowing the politics of some of the parent "boosters" surrounding orchestra, I can imagine these sorts of things are very much true. So much for honoring the military and thanking them for their service. |
| Let me guess, an Asra article? |

Does anyone know what this means?
“In the lawsuit, it states that Allen was on approved military leave in early 2023 when he received a reprimand for entering the school building during restricted hours“ What hours are “restricted” that teachers aren’t allowed into the building? |

It's best not to speculate about what actually happened in situations like this. If they reach a private settlement, great. If they don't, and the facts come out, fine as well.
But if you just go on a complaint, or a news article, supplemented by comments coming from those close to either the plaintiff or the LBSS employees who reprimanded him, you're not getting at the truth. |
| Oh it’s a whole thing and he is absolutely in the wrong. I can’t believe he is suing the school and showed up to the concert last week. The man continually stayed on military leave for years- coming and going and ditching the students. He was completely inappropriate and we are so glad he’s gone. Just because the kids like him doesn’t mean he is a good teacher. |
| Isn't that time period when Lake Braddock was cycling through multiple principals? |
Maybe it’s like when you are out on medical or disability leave. You aren’t allowed to go into the building while on leave. |
How does he stay on military leave for years? I don’t get it. |
| He was called up for Covid and again for the riots but then he got some opportunity and stayed. But said he was coming back, but didn’t, and then was livid that they didn’t save his exact job. He would have still had a county job, but not the exact LBSs job. We needed a real teacher. |
Point taken. I know the orchestra boosters had serious issues in transition from one president to another, and all that happened before COVID. |

LBSS has had so many principals and has gone down in quality so much in the last 8 years. I'm so glad we are almost done. it is like a prison. Yelling each class break yelling if you want to use the restroom at lunch. And of course now metal detectors.
But probably most of FCPS the last 8 as well. Sad. But there are some great teachers there. |
