Where to work on technique that doesn't break the bank?

My daughter has done stroke classes for 2 years and we still cant do breaststroke. She's on a winter swim team - not a highly competitive one, but still. My girl is trying. At practice she's doing breaststroke all wrong and the coach doesn't ever correct her stroke. She loves swim but I'm just not sure how to get her where she needs to be to so she can see some progress. She's not really getting better. I thought when we clunked down all that money for winter swim the coach would help with stroke technique a little bit but the coach never says much to her at practice. Where can I find some private instruction to work on technique that won't cost an arm and leg? She wants to improve but just going to practice 3 days a week isn't cutting it. Help a mom out please!

If you're in Maryland, FINS will work on stroke more than a club will, but runs practices like workouts. Also, my DCs both got legal in breast by swimming with FAST, a club that practices at Fairland. Positive experience there, and costs less thsn many other clubs, too

Ask if your club coach teach private lesson, or wait until summer to find teen coach at summer swim pool to do private lesson ( that’s how my DCs learned and got all strokes legal).

+1 to both of these suggestions.

Some kids just aren't good at breaststroke due to hip, leg, or ankle flexibility issues. It's possible she is tight somewhere. You can Google breaststroke stretches and find several articles with exercises.

Swim Farm in Arlington does privates. My kid was struggling with fly despite two years on winter swim team and 6 weeks of private lessons helped her get the feel for it.

Machine Performance Center in Vienna, VA does private and video lessons for technique. We go regularly to fine tune some things.

No. It isn't.

You can also do private at St. James. Which is very easy to book too.

No way. Overpriced for what is usually just a high school kid.
