How do you choose an attorney or law firm

I can afford a retainer etc but don’t want to blow thousands on $350-500 10 minute consultation fees. I already did one, but looking into it further the firm (not local) had some bad reviews.
How does one choose an attorney these days? I feel uneasy because both attorneys I talked to indicated I had a winnable case but I’m afraid of falling prey to someone promising me the moon and failing to deliver and then I’m out tens of thousands of dollars. |
