| Has anybody’s child had the flu, recovered and been well but then relapsed a few days later back with a fever? That’s what happened to my son and I’m wondering if it’s with this iteration of the flu is doing for contacts. He is healthy and had his flu shot. |
| Please consult with your pediatrician- flu is notorious for leading to increased susceptibility to secondary bacterial infection (pneumonia, ear infection, less commonly blood stream infections) and they are better positioned to evaluate your child’s risk than this forum |

Flu A is tearing through our elementary school and that's been the exact pattern-- kid is sick for 2-3 days (fever + body aches), feels good for a day or two (enough to return to school), and then feels sick again (sometimes with a fever) for another 2-3 days.
It's pretty unusual. It has reminded me of the COVID "rebound" pattern in a way that I hadn't noticed with the flu before. |
| When that happened to our daughter it was an ear infection. I'd go to the pediatrician. |
| ^ oh and all of the kids I know with this pattern (4 in one class so far) had their flu shots. |
That’s what I saw in my classroom too. |
| Sounds like covid. Are you sure it’s the flu? |
Covid is at high levels right now, but flu is hitting kids harder. I’d get tested. |
| I had the flu, recovered, and then got walking pneumonia in Fall 2024. Check in with your kid’s pediatrician. |
| Flu is super high for young kids right now. My kid usually bounces back from illness very easily but she’s had lingering exhaustion/low appetite for more than a week after being technically over the flu. No more fever and body aches so she’s fit to return to activities but she’s been pretty low energy. Other parents have told me the same. I had the flu last year and had after effects for weeks as well. |

My kids would get like that when they developed pneumonia after almost recovering from another illness
The dr. should be able to help |
