Simpsons Comic Books! There are comic books and books about the actual show.
The writers of The Simpsons are brilliant and funny. The top ten writers all have degrees at the top universities, a lot of mathematicians. Between the 10 main writers six are Harvard graduates with degrees in math and some in physics. One has a Princeton PhD in physics another has a Harvard PhD in applied math There’s one book that writes about the jokes that incorporate math. Math topics in some of the episodes include Fermat’s Last Theorem, Fractals, Prime Numbers, P vs NP, Euler’s equation, perfect numbers and more. There’s talk of Baseball statistics, topologies and exponential growth and it all works. The book is called The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets by Simon Singh. You or your husband can read it with him and watch the specific episode that a particular math joke is in. My son loved the Simpsons in elementary and middle school and watched it with his father. |
