| DC has a Ryken program interview in a few weeks. What should we expect? And what’s the parent questionnaire like that we’re supposed to fill out while our child is in the interview? |

The lack of response here kind of cracks me up. Either people don't know or they're not sharing their secrets. LOL.
More seriously though, we're applying to Ryken too, and it seems like the director of the program values kids being themselves and made it sound like it wouldn't be too formal. So I would think basic good interview advice would apply: practice a few questions beforehand, focus on the positive, be authentic and honest, and practice good handshakes and making eye contact so your kid looks engaged. Also assume you are being evaluated from the moment you leave your car until the moment you get back into your car. So make eye contact and say hello to everyone you pass and look happy to be there. FWIW. I'm dreading the parent questionnaire too. |
| We applied to Ryken and haven’t heard anything. |
Some people have been contacted to schedule interviews but they said they would be adding more options in January so it's very possible they haven't gotten through all the applications yet. Good luck. |
| I think they interview every Ryken Program applicant, so the interviews are on a rolling basis as they make their way through the applications? |

My son is a Ryken senior. The interview is very informal. Honestly, I don’t remember what he was asked him and he definitely doesn’t remember. They also interviewed us. I think they asked us his strengths and weakness and how best he learned. He scored very well on the HSPT (92%ile), and is 2E, but needed executive functioning support and teachers to break work into manageable pieces. He’s been very successful in HS and no longer takes Ryken classes, has almost a 4.0, and is in a few AP classes. He’s received 4 college acceptances so far, waiting on 3 more.
Can’t say enough good things about the program. Good luck. |
