Thinking about the MS Humanities magnets? Are you attending tonight’s curriculum meeting?

Sweeping changes will be discussed.

Meh. This is relevant for such a tiny random population.

Link?

No, it only impacts what a few hundred families? The rest of the kids go without gifted classes.

What meeting?

Isn't that just for gifted advisory committee members?

The hours of these sort of meetings are not good for me, but I will try to listen while driving.

It looks like more than humanities magnet will be covered in the meeting.

Link please!

I think it is relevant to kids with >85%ile MAP-R score and A in English/social study. They are in pool for the Humanity magnet MS lottery. It is true only a fraction of them are invited to the school, but I would like to know what changes are coming for my 3rd and 4th graders. Would magnet MS even continue existing?

It's a meeting of the AEI council, but the Eastern magnet coordinator sent an email with the zoom link inviting Eastern parents. Seems like this would also be relevant to kids who will be in the pool for the magnet, but I believe the session will be recorded.

I don't think we can include the zoom link here due to potential spammers, but I'm sharing this info from the Agenda. Yes it's a lot more than changes to the humanities magnet curriculum.

-DCAPS Updates:
High School Regional and Countywide Application Process
Middle School Magnet Consortium
Central Review Process for Grades 3 and 5

-AEI Updates:
Fall Webinars
CogAT Testing

-Humanities and Communications Magnet Curriculum Updates

If you want to attend and don't have the link, call AEI and ask for them to invite you, in case it is not recorded (don't know whether it will be).

Don't forget that it's not just >85%, but >85% locally normed, which raises the bar. Seriously, don't give it a second thought without an invitation in hand. The odds are so low that it's not worth your attention until it's worth your attention - at which point you will also be weighing commute and social environment, too.

It actually lowers the bar, but maybe you meant that more people should be paying attention?

Why did they say about the MSMC - MS magnet consortium? My kid loves Loiederman and I hope DC gets to stay there through
8th (in 6th now).
