Best and worst admissions offices

Anonymous
Here is a game for fun-

Which admissions offices have been the best to work with and which have been bad? Don’t just name the school, say why it was a notably positive or negative experience. This isn’t about tours or visits in general, the question specifically applies to interactions with staff members, either on campus or off.

Our worst, by far, was Tufts

Williams and Middlebury were impressive.

Bates was very good too but Colby much less so.

Clark U - everyone was very friendly and sincere.

When I was growing up U of Richmond. I was turned off, I didn't apply even though it was on my short list and I could have gotten in.

Totally agree on Bates vs Colby admissions office. Went to visit all 3 colleges in Maine this past summer and Bates went out of their way to answer every question and put us in touch with professors to follow up on a discussion. Gave us a ticket for a free lunch too. Bowdoin was alright but no free lunch. Tour guide was amazing. Colby clearly was only interested in the athletes in our group. Could care less about the other students who were non athletes. They couldn’t even be bothered to turn around and talk to the whole group. Also, becomes obvious when first stop is the gym.

I really appreciated places that offered to hold bags and provided snacks! Shout out to Pitt which left a great overall impression.

I also recall Tufts left a bad impression but cannot recall why....

Other than the tour, people at BU were sullen and unengaging.

Conversely, and rather surprisingly, people at NYU were the opposite, friendly, accessible and helpful.

This is so weird.

Very little interaction with the two top 10 schools my kids ended up at.
