For men. Apparently it's some big trend? Is this like when New Balance "dad" shoes were suddenly all the rage?
They look like fleeces. With a zip up. They've been around for decades. So what's the fuss now about quarter zips? |
|
Its a TikTok viral video Gen Z created. You aren't meant to understand.
Most men in Gen X/Boomers wear nice quarterzips that do NOT look like fleece! |
| I think it's more of a trend for teen boys. It's a departure from hoodies that have reigned supreme for many years now. |
So, what are they, then? Sweaters? I wear thin merino wool sweaters this time of the year. I guess I have a couple of henleys and v-necks, but none with zippers. |
| Anyone have a favorite office casual one for DH? |
| Yeah, it's a thing but also been around for years. It's all my 22 yr old wears to work ( tech job, in office daily) |
Oh, so that would actually be an upgrade. A step toward dressing better. More sophisticated. I can get behind this. |
| The effect is that when unzipped, the collar on either side frames and features their face. I think it is flattering to men. |
+1 just don’t question this one and roll with it so they don’t change their minds. |
I'm a man and my quarter zips have always been wool sweaters, yeah. I have no idea about what's trendy for Gen Z, though. |
OP here, so this is what I mean -- these have been a closet staple for me a very long time. It's like the New Balance thing last year (although I don't really wear New Balance or sneakers at all -- I have better taste than to wear trainers out and about unless I'm going to the gym or taking a walk for exercise). So basically, the boys are coopting what their dads and granddads are wearing and think it's cool? Excellent. Can we get them to wear long pants in winter, next? Trousers, maybe? |
|
It’s from a tik tok trend slightly mocking the corporate aesthetic.

| Lululemon has great quarter zips for men in different fabrics (nice sweater knits, textured cotton, etc). We always check the sales rack for them. |
So, GenZ has finally grown up? |
This. Adult men have been wearing them from decades but it just leaked down to teen boys as the new “bro” look. So lots of jokes about it. |
