We live in Chevy Chase and are looking for a private ES. What is the quick read on local options?

We would love to keep the school commute < 20 minutes, even in rush hour traffic, if possible.

Thoughts on these options? Am I missing any? We're not interested in parochial or K-12s.

Oneness
Concord Hill
Primary Day
Grace Episcopal
Washington Episcopal
Lowell
Sheridan
Lycee Rochambeau

Thanks!

I assume GDS and Sidwell would also qualify.

NPS would be the obvious one. St Pats probably isn’t that much farther than Sheridan.

Those are k-12’s

Don't have direct experience, but know a family that recently left Concord Hill because they felt the academics were weak.

Also, Rochambeau is a K-12.

Loved Sheridan, went many years ago

Great experience at WES. DC went from 3-8th and was well prepared for HS. We feel very fortunate to have found it!

We get to Norwood from CC in 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. It is absolutely worth the drive!

Choose one that is under 15 minutes from your home, and ideally under 10. You will appreciate being closer to many fellow families, and you will be surprised how often you go to school during elementary years. Also, families tend to stay close to home in the private elementary world— meaning they want to drive 5-10 minutes when they have little kids but possibly willing to go further for high school.

Many of these schools are more similar than they are different.

Can't say enough good things about Sheridan. Was great for our children. Wonderful school and community.

Add WES and NPS to your list. Absolutely agree that commute time is key. You want something that is 15 minutes away, absolute tops!

The only issue with Concord Hill, Primary Day, and Beauvoir is that they end at 3rd grade, so in a few years you will need to do the search again. What about St. Andrews or Bullis?
